As I reflect, my heart is warmed by the deep insights shared during the session I coordinated at Open Dreams on realizing a powerful 2026. I am always grateful for opportunities like this to have meaningful conversations, especially with young people.

In such moments, empowerment takes root and knowledge transforms into visible impact. Honestly, I myself am equally enlightened by the great minds in the room.
We began with a simple exercise: a two-minute deep dive with closed eyes into what 2025 felt like, allowing the mind to reveal its first impressions of the year.
From there, participants reflected on their Top 5 achievements and Top 5 major dislikes of 2025. After five minutes of reflection, each person selected one from each list and placed it anonymously into a community box.
We started by celebrating achievements. Each participant picked a paper, not theirs, and read it aloud. When the writer was recognized, they waved or said, “Clock it,” and we cheered. The room filled with admiration and joy as we witnessed the incredible accomplishments of these young minds. Truly inspiring.
When we moved to the most draining aspects of the year, the group democratically decided to keep identities anonymous. What followed were stories of struggle, pain, and resilience. Though some were heavy, they revealed strength, and above all, humanity. One participant later shared that this activity helped build empathy: celebrating others’ successes while holding space for their struggles. That, indeed, was the beauty of it.

From these reflections, we moved into the heart of the session. I introduced frameworks such as the Circle of Control, Ikigai, Silent Investment, and more, tools designed to shift perspective and guide intentional living. We even created a playful “Scroll, Scroll, Scroll” rhythm (still makes me laugh) to remind ourselves to be mindful and deliberate about social media consumption.
Overall, the session was deeply impactful, as confirmed by the anonymous feedback received. I also gained valuable insights into areas for improvement, and I’m committed to growing better with each opportunity. Most importantly, I am confident that participants shifted from a “wait and see” mentality to an “initiate and build” mindset.
So, what will 2026 be like?
It will be what we consciously design, a year led by intention, empathy, responsibility, and action.
I am profoundly grateful to Open Dreams and the sagacious Akaba James for believing in my potential and trusting me to help ignite light in the minds and hearts of others. By God’s grace, that light will continue to guide many toward their greatest heights.
A huge shout-out to the participants: you were phenomenal. Your openness, curiosity, and passion made the experience unforgettable.

I loved every moment, and I feel an even stronger calling to do more.
InshaAllah.
Praise be to God.
