My visit to Purdue University was much more than a campus tour as an admissions counselor. It was a powerful learning experience and a moment of deep reflection about my community, my students, and the incredible impact that this visit will have on the young people I mentor. As I walked across this historic campus, I kept imagining how sharing these experiences back home will inspire students to dream beyond their circumstances, embrace bold ambitions, and take courageous risks.

One moment that filled my heart with pride was seeing the Green, Red, and Yellow flag of my beloved fatherland, Cameroon, flying proudly among the many national flags represented on campus. It was a beautiful reminder that Purdue truly is a global community where students from around the world are welcomed, valued, and empowered.

I had the privilege of engaging in meaningful conversations with admissions officers, faculty members, and university leaders. Moving from one college to another was an eye-opening experience. From the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business to the Colleges of Agriculture, Science, Engineering, and Fine Arts, every stop revealed Purdue’s unwavering commitment to innovation, excellence, and student success.

The College of Engineering left me speechless. The state-of-the-art laboratories, cutting-edge research facilities, and hands-on learning environments demonstrated why Purdue continues to be recognized as one of the world’s leading engineering institutions. Its Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering program consistently ranks among the very best in the United States, while the College of Engineering itself is home to numerous nationally ranked programs across agricultural and biological engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, and many other disciplines.

For someone who teaches STEM and robotics, walking through these laboratories was like stepping into the future. I could immediately see the endless opportunities awaiting students who choose Purdue—not only to learn but also to innovate, create solutions, and change the world.

Perhaps the most emotional moment of my visit was standing where history was made. As a science teacher, I have taught countless lessons about Neil Armstrong and humanity’s journey to the moon. To now stand at the university that educated him, surrounded by his legacy, above all, being beside his status #transformed those #textbook stories into #reality. Purdue is proudly known as the “Cradle of Astronauts,” with more astronauts among its alumni than any other public university in the United States. It was a humbling reminder that extraordinary dreams often begin in ordinary classrooms.

What impressed me just as much as Purdue’s academic excellence was its people. Every faculty member, admissions officer, and staff member I met was welcoming, approachable, and genuinely passionate about helping students succeed. That warmth made the experience even more memorable.

As I reflect on this unforgettable visit, I am deeply grateful to International ACAC, Open Dreams, and the Best of Indiana Tour 2026 for creating this life-changing opportunity. The 2026 IACAC Conference theme, #BridgeBuilder, could not have been more fitting. Throughout this journey, I built bridges—not only between institutions and students but also between dreams and opportunities, between Cameroon and the United States, and between young people who dare to dream and universities ready to help them achieve those dreams.

I leave Purdue University with more than memories. I leave with renewed hope, stronger partnerships, and an even greater commitment to ensuring that talented students, regardless of where they come from, know that the world’s greatest opportunities are within their reach.
