Growing up, I always dreamed of something bigger, of using education to unlock opportunities for myself and others. But dreams don’t always come easy when challenges like financial hardship and limited access to guidance block the way. That’s why getting accepted into the Open Dreams Summer Academy was more than just good news, it was a turning point in my life.

I first heard about Open Dreams from a senior at my school who had once been a scholar. The way he spoke about the mentorship, support, and exposure he received made me immediately curious. I did my research and applied, not knowing if I would ever make it.
When the acceptance email came, I was overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude. It was proof that my dreams were valid.
The program has helped me define and refine my goals. I’ve learned to believe in the power of global education, community service, and innovation. I’ve developed skills in public speaking, critical thinking, and personal branding. But most of all, I’ve learned to value resilience and hard work.

The journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve had to balance school with responsibilities at home, apply to scholarships with limited resources, and push through doubt. But the community at Open Dreams reminded me that I am not alone—that I am capable.
During and after the program, I hope to become a mentor myself. I want to use my story to inspire others, apply for international opportunities, and bring solutions to issues in my community.

To anyone thinking of applying: go for it. Be honest in your application, stay true to your goals, and don’t be afraid of where you come from. Open Dreams believes in potential—and it might just believe in yours too.
