On Wednesday, July 16th, 2025, I had the distinct honour of being selected by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK to represent scholars from 56 Commonwealth countries at the Commonwealth Scholars’ Parliamentary Reception held at the iconic UK Parliament, Westminster.

As a Cameroonian Commonwealth Scholar researching in the area of media, multilingual mediation, and conflict resolution, this moment was more than symbolic cos it was a powerful reminder of why our voices matter in shaping inclusive, just, and peaceful societies.
I am especially proud and humbled to represent my country, Cameroon, on such a significant platform where ideas meet policy, and where young voices are heard, valued, and respected.
We engaged with policymakers, scholars, and leaders, who are driving real conversations around democracy, leadership, and global development.
Rt. Hon. Wendy Morton from the House of Commons reminded us that we need courage, tenacity, and a sense of humour in this line of work. Her advice to us aspiring women in leadership was to lead with humility, tolerance and wisdom. However always remembering not every hill is ours to die on.
Lord Collins of Highbury emphasized the crucial role of activism and civil society in keeping democracy vibrant.
Lord Purvis of Tweed, from the House of Lords, challenged us not just to settle for comfortable answers but to ask hard questions to seek sustainable solutions.
This opportunity has strengthened my commitment to building bridges through language, dialogue and peace, especially in conflict affected regions like Cameroon.
My sincere thanks to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, especially Annabel Boud for championing young voices across the commonwealth.
We are here not just to study. We are here to engage, represent and connect.
