Four years ago, I boarded a plane for the first time, traveling from Yaoundé, Cameroon, into the unknown. A few days later, I walked through the doors of what would be my home for the following four years. Today, I am walking through these doors one last time. And once again, I'm going into the unknown, though this time I carry with me a much heavier load of lived experiences.

My time at Harvard has been both long and short.
A time during which I struggled being away from family, longed for the comfort of home, and yearned for the taste of Cameroonian food. In only four years, I traveled more than I had my entire life, visiting several American states, spending a month in France, and even making a spring break trip to Barbados. I have explored my hobbies, including hiking, judo, and adrenaline sports. I have also undergone two life-saving surgeries, secured internships in big tech, and even written a "mini" book. I lived and continue to live through the pain of losing my mom, which some days makes simply waking up feel like an unbearable battle.

However, as I ready myself for the next step, I am saddened to move away from the close friends and amazing connections I made in Harvard. From professors to classmates, house staff to friends, you have made the experience truly unforgettable.
I now feel some regret for not having explored more; regardless, I'm grateful. To God, to my family, and to everyone who's been by my side. I wouldn't have made it without you.

As the only international student from Cameroon in my graduating class, I feel an extra sense of pride. A kind of pride that says: Cameroon was here. And there is more to come!
I am now closing this chapter as I start to write the next one. And I am as curious as you probably are as to what that next chapter will bring.
