It is always heartwarming each time I reflect on my first encounter with Open Dreams. It was during my high school years that my vision for the future was unclear and my dreams and aspirations were undefined.

I clearly remember solving a Mathematics question when a man named Mr. Emmanuel Ngolefac walked into our classroom wearing an Open Dreams T-shirt. He initiated a conversation about growth mindset, the importance of dreaming big, and success stories of Open Dreams scholars who had risen above all odds despite the socio-political crisis in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
That conversation marked a turning point in my life. My mindset shifted from believing that quality education was beyond my reach because of my family background and financial circumstances to believing that it was indeed possible. For the first time in my life, I felt truly courageous to face the future.

From that moment onward, looking back at my family, with no high school graduate, my resolve to break that record rose to new heights. Through guidance I received from Open Dreams and the unwavering support from the Jumbam Family Foundation that brought me out from the depths, I write today as a proud beneficiary of the prestigious Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Pretoria, where I am currently engaged in my undergraduate studies.
As I reflect on my journey, one thought from that first day continues to linger in my mind: "Dreams are valid." For every young person, we begin to fail the moment we stop dreaming. Imagine if Open Dreams had never existed in Cameroon; thousands of young people and families would still be without hope today for sure.
My heartfelt appreciation to the management team James Akaba, EMMANUEL NGOLEFAC, and all the mentors who inspired and supported me throughout this journey.

Additionally, my deepest gratitude to the Jumbam Family Foundation (JFF) Desmond Tanko Jumbam, who are at the foundation of my journey, sponsors, and all the mentors who inspired and supported me through.
