What an inspiring day it was! I had the privilege of joining the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence (GBV) at Ladybird Groups of Schools in Yaounde on December 5th, 2025, focusing on the crucial theme: UNITE ACTIVISM TO END DIGITAL VIOLENCE AGAINST ALL WOMEN AND GIRLS.

I truly enjoyed the energy and commitment everyone showed, especially the students.
It was wonderful to see how deeply the message resonated across all age groups!
The students completely stole the show! They performed a fantastic sketch that powerfully explained and supported the team's mission.
I was particularly moved by the speeches from the Nursery and Junior school children! It shows that instilling values to fight for women's rights should start early, a vital lesson for all of us.
The event featured a beautiful song for the Girl Child and an impressive presentation on solar energy from the girls of YLC. It highlighted that our girls are brilliant innovators and leaders, not just victims as sometimes portrayed! The Head of the Open Dreams (OD) Digital Center, Moses Afopezi, talked about how OD empowers the girl child not only to strive intellectually but also morally. He talked about the Digital center where the girl child gains digital literacy and online safety skills through our various programs. "When girls are empowered with opportunities, entire communities are transformed. Girls should feel safe both online and offline". Mme Yvonne Lamenyuy, the chief organizer of the event, thanked all the invitees and talked about the fact that she strives to empower youths from all ages and background to know how to act online and she urges us to do same in our communities.

Ending digital violence is a community effort. Seeing these young minds actively championing this cause gives me so much hope for a safer, more equitable future.
Let's keep the activism ongoing!

Cheers to Mme Yvonne Lamenyuy for putting together such a massive program on the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
