Where is Innovation? | Ayuk Tabong Sandrine Ojong

We’re stuck
Not by traffic, but by time.
By systems rusted shut,
By chalk-dusted classrooms where creativity is chalked out.
Ingenuity silenced before it speaks,
Dreamers dismissed before they dare.
Ideas drowned in puddles of survival.

Where is innovation?
The little boy who might've built bridges
Now learns to wade through floods as a bikeman.
Beneath umbrellas patched like broken policies,
Hope clings to tarpaulin and persistence.
Drenched streets.
Fractured roads.
Forgotten dreams.
Where is innovation?
Look again
She’s here.
In the man in yellow, chest forward, stepping into the storm
With more resolve than our government.
In the rider on the bike, navigating chaos with care,
Solving for urgency when no one else will.

Innovation is in me
Behind the window streaked with raindrops,
On my way to TIC'25,
Where those left unheard begin to speak.
Where innovation doesn’t ask permission
It awakens.
Innovation is here. In you, in me, in all of us.
