On Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, Victory Comprehensive College in Kumba came alive as over 100 students gathered for the Unlocking Global Opportunities Seminar 2.0. Organized by MIA Prepas in partnership with Open Dreams and Youth Opportunities, the seminar was a powerful experience filled with knowledge-sharing, inspiration, and community-building.

The event featured a series of impactful presentations aimed at helping young people discover global opportunities and how to access them.
Dr. Egbe Gift Etuka, a 6th-year medical student and Youth Opportunities Ambassador for Cameroon, served as the host and speaker for MIA and Youth Opportunities. He shared insightful tips on how young people can tap into international scholarships, programs, and fellowships. His session was both practical and empowering, reminding students that no dream is too big if they are well-prepared and proactive.
Representing Open Dreams was a dedicated team of four: Bate Elvis, Fongang Faith, Teboh Sandra, and Emmanuel Kum. The session opened with Emmanuel giving a brief presentation on the mission and impact of Open Dreams as an organization working to expand access to educational opportunities for high-achieving, low-income students in Cameroon. He walked the students through the various support systems Open Dreams offers, from mentorship and essay coaching to career guidance and application support.
Following him, Fongang Faith gave a lively presentation on the Open Dreams Summer Academy, shedding light on how the program prepares students not only for academic excellence but also for leadership and global engagement.
Wrapping up the Open Dreams presentations, Mr. Bate Elvis, Coordinator for the Southwest Region, delivered a heartfelt talk on resilience. Drawing from personal stories and experiences, he encouraged students to develop thick skin in the face of rejection and to keep pushing forward, no matter how many setbacks they encounter.
The event was more than just a seminar, it was a space for hope, motivation, and networking. Students left the room with new knowledge, a better understanding of the possibilities that lie ahead, and the inspiration to pursue them with determination.

Together, MIA Prepas, Youth Opportunities, and Open Dreams are committed to ensuring that young people in Kumba and beyond are not left behind in the global race for knowledge and opportunity.
