Another Milestone that speaks to the importance of leadership and community engagement: Dr. Platine Nyuyki is in the U.S. for the Mandela Washington Fellowship!

Open Dreams is proud to celebrate Dr. Platine Nyuyki, the dynamic force behind Healthifirst, as he embarks on an exciting journey to Drexel University in Philadelphia, USA, as a Mandela Washington Fellow for Young African Leaders—a flagship program of the U.S. State Department.
Selected as 1 of only 16 Cameroonians from over 7,000 applicants, Dr. Platine Nyuyki’s achievement is a resounding endorsement of his visionary, relentless, and selfless leadership, and the life-saving work Healthifirst is doing in reshaping the preventive healthcare landscape in his community in Cameroon.
As he joins a global network of changemakers, this Fellowship will deepen his knowledge in service, leadership, entrepreneurship, and communication, equipping him to return with even more powerful tools to expand Healthifirst’s field impact and the critical role he plays at Open Dreams as a health professional advancing the Aviva Initiative on health education and the prevention of congenital anomalies, maternal and neonatal mortality.

From the Open Dreams family, we are inspired and incredibly proud of this achievement. This is what dreams look like when they take flight.

Dr. Platine Nyuyki is based in Kumbo - the risk associated with the Anglophone crisis has neither scared nor stopped him from reaching every corner of the community to serve people trapped in conflict, with very few options. This is what leadership looks like. This is what impact looks like. In one of his write-ups after an outreach, he made the critical statement that being an IDP is a luxury not everyone can afford, and that drives his spirit to reach those who have no other option but to surrender to fate.
Fly high, Dr. Platine Nyuyki. The global Open Dreams Family is behind you
