How can organizations spend less time processing information and more time making informed decisions?

This was the central question explored by Lemnyuy Fru Dinnyuy during an engaging presentation at the Open Dreams Center two days ago, where he introduced participants to the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Agentic AI in improving organizational efficiency.

Using month-end reporting as a practical example, Dinnyuy highlighted how organizations often lose valuable time navigating information from different sources, including Excel spreadsheets, PDFs, scanned documents, emails, and paper records. The repetitive task of manually transferring information not only creates operational bottlenecks but also increases the risk of errors and takes human talent away from more strategic responsibilities.

He then explored the distinction between traditional automation and Agentic AI. While conventional automation tools such as Zapier and Power Automate excel at executing repetitive tasks based on predefined rules, they often struggle when confronted with unfamiliar formats or unexpected variations. Agentic AI, on the other hand, introduces a layer of intelligence that enables systems to interpret information, recognize patterns, extract relevant data, and flag exceptions, even when documents and formats differ.

Open Dreams Mentees also gained insights into how AI systems work, from receiving data and documents to processing information and generating outputs or taking action. Of particular interest was the concept of multi-agent systems, where different AI agents collaborate to accomplish complex tasks. For instance, one agent could consolidate information and extract data into structured tables, while another analyzes key performance indicators, identifies trends, makes predictions, and generates reports. Importantly, the final decisions remain in human hands.

The discussion further examined different AI deployment models, including local, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of choosing solutions that balance organizational needs, data security, hardware capacity, training requirements, and operational costs.

Three key lessons stood out:

  1. Automate the repetitive: Free people from routine tasks that machines can handle efficiently.

  2. Introduce intelligence where rules fall short: Use AI to address complexity, variations, and tasks requiring contextual understanding.

  3. Train before scaling: Develop and refine AI systems properly before expanding their application across an organization.

Perhaps the most compelling takeaway from the session was a reminder that AI should not be viewed simply as a replacement for human effort, but as an opportunity to amplify human potential.

As Dinnyuy aptly echoes it:

“AI will not replace people. People using AI will replace people who do not.”

At Open Dreams, we believe that equipping young people with relevant digital skills, technological knowledge, and the confidence to embrace emerging innovations is essential to preparing them for the future of work.

Through conversations, practical learning, and knowledge-sharing sessions like this, we continue to create spaces where curiosity meets opportunity and young people are empowered to turn knowledge into impact.
