The Open Dreams Liu Shimming Scholars | Tatapong Beyala

My name is Tatapong Beyala. With dual Master’s Degrees in Sociology and Cinematography, I am now in the final year of my PhD at the University of Yaoundé I, in the Department of Performing Arts and Archeology! My research is dedicated to increasing the presence of women in technical, behind-the-scenes roles, giving them the autonomy to tell their own stories.

Beyond the classroom, I’ve brought this vision to life across more than 100 audiovisual projects, including films, documentaries, and music videos.

To see this mission in action, I have shared two of my works on YouTube below. The music video was written, shot, and edited by me, featuring a crew of talented women in key technical roles (Gurl Boss Production Studios), and the film was directed and co-edited by me.
