The feeling of seeing the acceptance email felt so unreal that I had to double-check the update on my laptop. It was a moment that brought a long journey full circle, confirming the value of dedicated hard work and, most importantly, the power of a strong support system.

My path to this point was made possible by two key organizations.
The The Urega Foundation stepped in at a critical time, providing a scholarship for my final year of high school and covering the costs of my SAT. Its support addressed a foundational need and allowed me to focus fully on my studies.
The next phase of this journey was shepherded by Open Dreams Educational NGO. Its mentorship was not a one-size-fits-all approach; it was a deeply personalized process of refining my narrative, demystifying the application system, and offering consistent encouragement. The mentors helped me translate my aspirations into a clear, compelling application.

This experience is a testament to the profound difference that targeted and thoughtful guidance can make. I am deeply thankful to James Kakisingi, James Akaba, Daphne Ngenwie Chebesi, Winston Nfor Kanjo Ndi, Blessing Lum, Faustina Manka'a Nforngwa, Open Dreams as a whole and everyone else who supported me in this journey.

As I begin this four-year journey at Berea College, I'm more determined than ever to honor the faith they placed in me and to pay forward the support I received. - Techa Pride Akana | Open Dreams
