Connect and Collaborate Event: Celebrating 65 years of the Commonwealth Scholarship Program

Open Dreams

Updated: Feb 17

On February 14th, 2025, Open Dreams Commonwealth Scholars had the incredible opportunity to participate in the celebration of the 65th cohort of scholars in the Connect & Collaborate event in London. This gathering brought together Commonwealth Scholars from diverse backgrounds, fostering meaningful discussions on innovation, leadership, and the future of the Commonwealth.

As young leaders committed to driving change in our communities, we engaged in insightful conversations, networked with fellow scholars, and explored ways to create lasting impact through education, research, and collaboration.

Of the members of the Open Dreams Family present at the event were Lingong Martha Mburli in the domain of Strengthening Global Peace, Security and Governance at the University of Derby, Dr. Iya Maliki in the domain of Strengthening Health Systems and Capacity at the University of Leeds, Evita Afungfege in the domain of Access Inclusion and Opportunity at the Queen Mary University of London, Dr. Cheboh Cho-Fon in the domain of Strengthening Health Systems and Capacity at the University College London and Sixtus Ngomo Bame at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the domain of Strengthening Health Systems and Capacity.

A huge thank you to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for organizing this inspiring event. Together, we continue to learn, grow, and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable world.

With the aim of promoting global understanding and cooperation through international study, CSC has funded over 31,000 persons from across commonwealth countries to realize their dreams since 1960 of the first cohort award. Today, dynamics have changed, innovations have stepped in, and competition for the best is even stronger but the mission of the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, CSC-UK, remains the same.

The 65th Connect and Collaborate event presented another opportunity to build a network of shared interests in strengthening and fostering CSC themes, centered around the well-being of humanity.
