About one in every ten #Cameroonians has experienced a #stroke. This alarming reality reminds us why awareness and #prevention matter now more than ever.

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, Heart Savers Initiative (#HSI) joined forces with Open Dreams, Nso Health Professionals Association (NHELPA), and Nso Health Renaissance Initiative (NHRI) to mark #WorldStrokeDay, observed globally every October 29.

The outreach took place in the Simbock community, Yaoundé, bringing #free health screening and #educative talks on stroke: one of Cameroon’s growing public health concerns.

Over 30 residents participated, eager to learn about the risk factors, early #signs, and prevention of stroke.

With the support of our passionate team of health professionals and volunteers, participants benefited from screening for 𝗵𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀, and 𝗼𝗯𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 alongside 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴.

At HSI, we believe prevention starts with awareness. Our mission is to reduce heart failure-related disability and death by promoting early detection, 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆.

We envision a future where #cardiovascular diseases such as stroke are recognized early, treated effectively, and prevented through informed action.
