Banjul, Gambia

I’m incredibly humbled to share that earlier this July 2025 week, I received an invitation to join other inspiring youths from West Africa as a Delegate and Speaker for the Youth in Food Systems in Africa (YEFFA) - West Africa Regional Youth Convening.

This convening, held from July 23rd to 24th, 2025, in Banjul, The Gambia, was organized by YEFFA in collaboration with AGRA and the Mastercard Foundation and hosted by the Community Action Platform on Environment and Development CAPED Gambia. Under the theme “Feeding the Future: Youth-Led Solutions for Resilient and Inclusive Food Systems,” the event aimed to bring together youth leaders, innovators, and policy actors from across West Africa. Our goal was to develop a unified youth voice and position for upcoming critical discussions at the Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF), UNFSS+4, and COP30.

It was truly inspiring to witness the significant work being done by other young people across the African continent. I was privileged to present on the work we have been doing in Cameroon with AgricFresh Sarl, our solar-powered sustainable innovative startup. I highlighted how we are tackling post-harvest losses, helping farmers preserve their crops, and contributing to Cameroon’s import substitution policy. It’s crucial for us to keep pushing the agenda for food security on the continent, helping to meet the UN 2030 agenda for Food and Sustainable Agriculture.

I am immensely grateful to YEFFA, AGRA, CAPED Gambia, the Mastercard Foundation, and all the partners who played a role in enabling #AgricFresh to contribute to this convening. Your support is vital to us and has helped us learn so much, which will undoubtedly improve food security efforts in Cameroon.

Equally, I’m very grateful to Dr. Jeremiah Rogito, Fatoumata Marong, Modester Lynn, Kennedy Kiendi and @Gifty for their support throughout the conference.

Together, we can continue to shape policies that favor a more robust and secure food and agriculture future for the continent.
