After the Portland, Oregon, USA, expedition, Open Dreams program facilitator, Anestin Chi, is currently at Harrogate, UK where she's taking part in the 56th edition of the International Association of Teachers of English as Foreign Language (IATEFL) Conference under Hornby Trust sponsorship.
Yesterday, April 19th 2023, Anestin and other Hornby scholars led a joined session on Decentring English Language Teaching. During the presentation, Anestin raised questions about the continuous influence of the "centre"; an influence which according to her obscures local expertise.
Besides attending and presenting at the conference, Anestin received the IELTS Morgan Terry Memorial Award, which celebrates innovation in IELTS test preparation. The award is the outcome of an activity she designed to help prospective IELTS candidates to prepare for the test. She dedicates this award to her mum, who now lives on.

It was a surprise. I told them that l invited them for a drink reception at the IELTS Stand. They asked me if I work with IELTS. I said yes🤣. Some knew it was a lie so they never came. Others came to find out if l truly work with IELTS 🤦🏻♀️.
There was a drink reception so they started drinking and before they knew it, someone walked to the stage, started making a speech and announced winners 🤣🤣🤣🤣. The first winner was called and l walked to the stage. They were all confused 🤣🤣🤣🤣
