Building the right connections to achievement | Blaise Fonguh'19

I just wanted to thank the Open Dreams (OD) Family 🙏 for all the support and change they have made in my life during the past 4 years. I was part of the OD 2019 cohort. I received three rejections (from the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto, and Ashesi University) but through resilience and persistence, I got a full scholarship to study a BSc in Computer Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) under the MasterCard Foundation.

I first joined Open Dreams through Open Dreams Scholar Tonylouis Veberi, who got the Lester Pearson Scholarship at the University of Toronto, Canada back in 2019 (he came to our home in Yaoundé and told me to join this prestigious organization because he felt I had the requirements to be part and stood a good chance to thrive within the organization).

Open Dreams Scholar, Ngako Patricia also played a role before that whilst we were classmates at Saint Benoit Mvolye Yaounde. Four of us from St. Benoit (Eleih Elle Etian Jr, Desmond Nebah, Patricia Ngako) who were part of Open Dreams, all made it.

Today I am very grateful for the walkthrough, mentorships, and learnings and I look forward to pursuing a Master's Degree, sharing the knowledge I have had with OD as part of my community engagement to sustain growth in the beautiful Open Dreams family.

Thank you, Open Dreams
