With a perfect 30/30 at the GCE O/L, Mayenin Nouriatu showed extraordinary dedication and resilience in the college-prep journey, after attending the 2025 Open Deams Summer Academy in Yaounde. While many dropped out of the five-month-long “Rise for the World” Challenge, Nouriatu persevered under the close mentorship of Seka Jean-Blaise, making history as the first female Rise Global Winner from Cameroon.
Her story is one of courage. When the Anglophone crisis hit, she was just in Class 6 in Kumbo in the North West Region of Cameroon. Forced out of school for three years, she later relocated to Yaoundé, picked up from Form Two, and stayed true to academic excellence. Her grit, coupled with the opportunities at the Open Dreams Center, propelled her to global recognition.
Today, Nouriatu begins a new chapter at Swarthmore College (USA), where she hopes to, after an undergraduate in Biochemistry, pursue studies in Nanoengineering or Pharmaceuticals.
From displacement to global distinction, her journey embodies the spirit of Open Dreams to the World.
