At Open Dreams, leadership is not something we appoint—it is something we recognize.

Our community thrives on passion-driven leadership, selfless service, and the consistent willingness to create opportunities for others. When someone continually demonstrates these qualities, we simply affirm what their actions have already made evident.

It is therefore with great pleasure that we announce the designation of Romaric Lonfonyuy as Coordinator and Anoh Precious Akwe as Assistant Coordinator of the 2026 Open Dreams Summer Academy – Yaoundé Hub.

As we work with the largest Summer Academy cohort ever in Yaoundé, expanding from about 40 students in previous years to more than twice the number, we are entrusting the leadership of this historic cohort to two outstanding young leaders whose commitment to excellence, innovation, and service has consistently distinguished them.

Romaric succeeds Moses Afopezi, who served briefly after succeeding Seka Jean Blaise, whose four years of dedicated leadership culminated in the remarkable success of the 2025 Summer Academy, one of the most impactful sessions in the history of Open Dreams. We remain deeply grateful for the foundation laid by those who have served before him.

A Computer Science student at Ashesi University, Mastercard Foundation Scholar, software developer, entrepreneur, and youth leader, Romaric has already left an enduring mark on Open Dreams. He developed our Payment and Finance Management Platform, significantly improving the management of student payments, financial aid, and organizational finances.

Beyond Open Dreams, he has co-founded Skaleway, a technology startup helping organizations scale through innovative digital solutions, and developed SignNova, a project promoting accessibility for hearing and non-hearing students.

Throughout his journey, he has mentored young people through Open Dreams, the TiC Foundation, hackathons, leadership programs, and technology education initiatives.

His journey reflects one enduring conviction: technology achieves its greatest impact when it empowers people.

Serving alongside him is Anoh Precious Akwe, a young dreamer whose leadership journey has equally been defined by service, creativity, and a deep passion for empowering others.

An aspiring Computer Science student, entrepreneur, and youth leader, Precious is the Founder of Tanova, a platform dedicated to helping young people discover, develop, and showcase their talents while connecting them to opportunities for growth and impact.

Her leadership experience includes serving as an Area Coordinator for the TiC Summit, volunteering with Open Dreams, Skolarr, and the Bright Future Builders Initiative, organizing youth-centered programs, and serving as President of her school's Technology Club, where she inspired fellow students to embrace leadership, innovation, and service.

Precious attended the 2025 Open Dreams Summer Academy. A year earlier, she led the dance group that brought energy and excitement to the celebration of Open Dreams' 10th Anniversary.

Together, Precious and Romaric represent the very values and culture that define Open Dreams: servant leadership, innovation, humility, and firm belief in the limitless potential of young people.

Both of them will lead the day-to-day implementation and operations of the 2026 Open Dreams Summer Academy Program in Yaoundé, ensuring that over a hundred promising young dreamers experience the transformational mentorship, academic preparation, leadership development, and sense of community that have become the hallmark of the Open Dreams Summer experience.

Congratulations, Precious and Romaric!

We are excited to see your leadership inspire the Batch of Legacy and help shape the next generation of Open Dreams pre-scholars, innovators, leaders, and changemakers.

The future belongs to those who are willing to serve, and your journey is only just beginning.
