Climate Action - Creating a sustainable future for all | Winnie Vallonia

Thrilled to share my incredible experience organizing a program on plastic pollution on August 22nd, 2023.

I was fortunate enough to be selected as one of the global winners of the Teens Dream Video Challenge, a remarkable initiative by the Global Co Lab Network. I had the immense responsibility to bring my proposed solution to life, focusing on Sustainable Development Goal #12 and the urgency of educating and inspiring young minds to combat plastic pollution's devastating effects on our environment.

The program kicked off with a thought-provoking and impactful panel discussion that left us all in awe. We had the privilege of learning from an exceptional array of experts in their respective fields. Environmental engineer Chi Christian Nganu, with his wealth of knowledge, shed light on the technical aspects. Monkam Marc, the brilliant director of Namé Recycling Yaoundé, shared invaluable insights into the recycling industry. We also had the pleasure of hearing from Nnomo Bertille, who manages human resources at Namé Recycling Yaoundé, and the dynamism of the vibrant youth environmental activist, Mboh Appollonia. Guiding us through this enlightening conversation was Seka Jean Blaise, the esteemed President and Co-founder of DeWise Foundation. Following the panel discussion, we dove into a practical and eye-opening workshop centered around waste segregation. Participants were able to grasp the importance of proper waste sorting and responsible disposal methods. It was empowering to witness their enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference.

This experience was deeply enriching, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Global Co Lab Network, Mboa Hub, Namé Recycling, Open Dreams, DeWise, my mentor Desmond Nji and my incredible team for their unrelenting support and assistance throughout.

Together, we are united in our mission to combat plastic pollution and create a sustainable future for all.
